Asymptomatic Testing FAQs

See below some answers to our most frequently asked questions

We have included some helpful documents and a video above. If you require assistance after viewing the help online, please contact COVID-19StaffTesting@spft.nhs.uk.

First, see the test history section above this FAQ. This will show you all of your submitted test results. If the test in question is not in the list, please contact COVID-19StaffTesting@spft.nhs.uk.

You should be completing a lateral flow test once every 3 to 4 days subject to your work pattern (maximum of 2 tests in a 7 day window). This is applicable to all staff.

If you have logged a positive test, you must self-isolate, even if you have no symptoms, inform your line manager and immediately report your result on the .gov website https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result so that your contacts can be traced.

You are able to leave self-isolation and return to work, 6 days after the date of your initial positive test if you receive two negative LFD results, 24 hours apart, on days 5 & 6 and providing you are medically fit to return.

To mitigate any potential risk of transmission NHS staff must continue to test daily to day 10 after their initial positive test and stop at day 10 unless they remain or test positive.

If at day 10 you are still testing positive you must continue to isolate and continue daily testing until a negative result or until day 14, when it is considered unlikely that you are infectious so you can return to work providing you are medically fit.

If you have developed one of the three main COVID-19 symptoms you should self-isolate and complete a PCR test as soon as possible.
